TESTIMONIALS

"Just thought I'd give you some feedback because we've had such a great response to the photo of T. and E. you took last summer. It is the one of them looking at each other, sharing what looks like a cheeky secret. Friends and family, (and all the tradesmen doing our renovations!) stopped in their tracks, seemingly entranced by the photo. it is amazing to watch! It could be because they look a little like twins, which adds interest... but I think the photo is so beguilling because it captures so accurately each boy's character but in such a subtle indirect manner. The boys are not face onto the camera, but instead totally engaged with each other. The photograph has brought us such pleasure, so thank you again Nicole and have a great Christmas."
Sarah M. - Wembley - Western Australia

"We both just wanted to say a BIG BIG thank you to Nicole for capturing our gorgeous photographs of our new little man... She did an amazing job hobbling around (on a broken leg) making us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Our friends and family adore our photographs and I just want everyone to share the same experience we did with such a talented lady. Nicole created photos which represent us and our lifestyle - exactly the way we wanted. Thank you Nicole, it was so lovely to meet you."
"Brooke & Chris T. - Beldon - Western Australia

"Nicole came into our home and within an amazingly short time had us feeling so at ease, she felt like an old family friend. My daughters are at the age where they fall into those "magazine" poses with plastic smiles. Nicole worked miracles in capturing their authentic look and helping them to have fun just fooking around. I look forward to finding an excuse to have the next lot of shots done"."

CARING FOR YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

Proper care can help extend the life your treasured photographs and negatives (digital or the real ones). There are many factors that can affect the quality of a photograph over time, such as sunlight, ultraviolet
radiation, excessive heat or humidity. To protect your prints, here are some guidelines that should be followed:

  • Do not place photographs, or any precious artwork in direct sunlight.
  • Photographs should not be kept in areas that are moist, humid or too hot, i.e. an attic or bathroom.
  • Photographs should be matted when framing to prevent them from coming in contact with any glass.
  • Use only archival “acid free” materials. Cardboard or MDF backs should be avoided! If using inexpensive frames, discard the cardboard backing, unless it’s marked as being acid-free.
  • An alternative for backing is using a foam-core board. Foam-core is relatively inexpensive, archival and offers cushioning to your photograph.
  • To help filter direct light that may shine on your photographs, use UV filtered glass. It is expensive, but worth the investment. It filters 90% of UV rays that are responsible for fading images.
  • When deciding how to store your photographs, look for albums, mats and any material that will come in contact with your photographs, to be listed as “photo safe”, “acid free” and “PVD free”.
  • Be sure the area surrounding your photographs is kept clean and free from pests. Photographic material can provide an attractive source for pests and rodents.
  • Silverfish are the biggest source of damage to photographs. They love to live in photo frames. A good tip is to cut cloths (i.e. Wettex) sprayed with i.e. Baygon into strips and when dry, place them at the back of frames and in the back of bookshelves. I personally don’t like using chemicals and prefer to avoid them. If you know of a natural alternative - please let me know! Also, as usual, always keep chemicals out of reach of children and pets.
  • Mould is major source of damage to photographs. A dry atmosphere = less silverfish.
  • Use Metholated Spirits (or acetone) on a cotton bud (very little amount) to carefully lift out old photographs stuck in very old photo albums.
  • Photographs should be viewed in a clean, uncluttered area and hands should be cleaned prior to handling your photographs to remove excess oils and dirt. If possible, wear white cotton gloves to prevent finger printing and soiling.
  • Avoid photographs touching each other.
  • No matter what the sales staff say... no digital print is guranteed as stable as a conventional (old fashioned print developed in wet darkroom chemicals) - especially the old black & white ones.
  • Back up all your important digital negatives - twice! The lifespan of a CD or DVD varies between 12 months to 5 years - and even that is not guaranteed.
  • Print all your favourite photographs for when your digital copy is lost. It’s not a matter of "if" you lose your digital images - it’s a matter of "when"!
  • Conventional negatives and slides are best stored in a dark, cool and dry room in acid-free sleeves, standing upright in enclosed folders. My preferred supplier of storage material for conventional negatives is: Albox Australia in Adelaide, SA.
